From AKA PS 2010 piece we called "FRIDAY", I just found this little moment and wanted to share it with the world. Efrat is quite dead here already after performing for four hours, and I love this kind of presence. It's exactly for this quality that I wanted to create such a long performance

Leigh Bowery in d'Offay Gallery, 1988

This is one of Bowery's projects I didn't know before seeing this documentary about the gorgeous genius, made by his friend and collaborator Charles Atlas. He spent a week in the Anthony d'Offay gallery space, locked up behind a two-way mirror and dressed in some of his magnificant, iconic looks. The result is something like Marina Abramovic meets Grace Jones on the set of a Jodorowski film.

Herzog + Lynch =

Just saw this one two days ago, it's a Lynch (producer) and Herzog (director) collaboration, and it's brilliant as expected.

This part features the Caetano Veloso song that Almodovar used in Hable Con Ella, and of course Herzog's interpretation of the typical Almodovarian kitsch is so much better than the original one. A wonderful example to this wacko's flirt with Holywood since he moved there. Pure gold.

Badu goes Graham

Here's why I love her so much. Only a very special performer can pull off these moves, and she does! It's totally irrelevant and at the same time touching; a parody taken serious, a comment and an engagement, completely stupid and viciously funny; not trying to be cool because she knows she's the definition of cool. I really think this video is close to perfection.

Feelings, by Simone/Dunietz

Finally there's a video of a proper performance of Maya's beautiful cover/homage/quote of Nina Simone's version of "Feelings". It was taken during Renana Raz's "YouMake ReMake" evening at Varda studio, Suzanne Dellal center.

Ghost Machine

"Ghost Machine" is the video walk Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller made for HAU1 in 2005, and is now running again, this time with personal iPods instead of cameras. It's one of these very rare occasions when art actually becomes what the dodot (sorry for the Israeli term, it's very hard to translate. maybe "aunties" will do...) would call "an experience". And yet I loved it. It's super simple (you are instructed to walk through the theater which was also a film set, seeing in your iPod screen very theatrical and highly stylized scenes that took place in the empty space you're standing in right now). Somehow, there's really a haunting magic in it just like the title implies. Here's the link to the piece in the couple's website and here's another installation they made called "Killing Machine": 

Mark Ronson + Boy George =

the lovely Ida reminded me of this video today. There's apparently nothing too special about it but somehow I really like it. Something about the combination of the VHS and the "Girl George" seems to work. Also the fact that this straight Ronson is truly gay friendly is very cool.
